Oregon Benefit Company
Oregon Mobile Lawyer, Inc. is registered with the Oregon Secretary of State as an Oregon benefit company. A benefit company is a type of corporation or limited liability company that wants to consider its impact on society and the environment in the business decision-making process, in addition to earning a profit. Such companies adopt a triple bottom line framework commonly known as People, Planet, and Profit.
Each Oregon benefit company is required to assess itself by a third-party standard to ensure that it is creating a positive impact. Oregon Mobile Lawyer, Inc. assesses itself by the standard of Green America in which businesses adopt principles, policies, and practices that improve the quality of life for their customers, employees, communities, and the planet.
Oregon Mobile Lawyer, Inc. creates a positive impact by:
Actively using its business as a tool for positive social change by volunteering time and advice for the Senior Law Service of Lane County Legal Aid;
Operating a "values-driven" enterprise according to principles of social justice and environmental sustainability when it performs discounted or pro bono services for the non-profit organization, LandWatch Lane County; and
Being environmentally responsible in the way it sources and markets its services by primarily availing itself of the benefits of like-minded businesses and by operating a digital law practice that is largely paperless, thus minimizing its carbon footprint.
With an estate planning practice, paper use is ultimately necessary, and Oregon Mobile Lawyer, Inc. uses sugarcane-based or other tree-free paper.
